We love tradition at Alannah Rose Stationery and there’s one in particular that always holds a soft spot in our hearts!
Something old, something new
Something borrowed, something blue
And a silver sixpence in her shoe.
There are so many unique ways you can incorporate the “somethings” into your wedding day, here’s some ideas we came up with and a special new treat from our online store!
Something Old... Symbolising the connection with the bride’s past
- Your grandmothers handkerchief
- Your mother’s locket
- Your mother’s engagement ring
- A loved one’s wedding band
- A sweet vintage purse
- Antique lace wrapped around your bouquet
- Your favourite perfume
- A special button from a special piece of clothing (perhaps an antique wedding gown – sewn into yours.
- A dried flower from your mother’s wedding bouquet
- Your grandmother’s veil
I wore my grandmother’s lace handkerchief.
Something New... Symbolising the hope of the future
- A beautiful piece of jewelery
- Your wedding gown
- Your wedding shoes
- Your bridal lingerie
- A locket containing a photo of you and your beloved
- A brand new wedding day perfume
I wore my brand new wedding gown.
Something Borrowed.. Representing the good fortune of an already married family member
- Your mother’s wedding veil
- Your jewelery
- Your wedding shoes
- Your grandmother’s bible
- Your best friend’s clutch purse from her wedding day
- Your sister’s shoes
I borrowed a friend’s vintage bracelet for my wedding day.
Something Blue… Symbolizing love and fidelity
With our struggle to find you the perfect something blue (I tied my Nan’s sapphire ring to my bouquet), we came up with our own.. the brand new Alannah Rose Something Blue Pocket Mirror.
We designed it to be sweet and functional with subtle blue polka dots and a handy clear mirror for makeup touch ups throughout the day. It comes in a muslin bag but can be easily slipped into a pocket or your perfectly planned bridal clutch on your wedding day!
