I’ve got another gorgeous wedding to share with you today – the wedding of Tony & Katelyn.
Tony and Katelyn were married in Wollongong in NSW on Sunday 3 May 2009. They chose our Embellish Wedding Invitations and Stationery suite – which was a perfect fit with their elegant and classic theme.
Katelyn’s dress made by Maria Gonzales in Melbourne, was ivory duchess satin with a cathedral length veil made of English tuille with French bordered lace. Sequins and beading were hand stitched into the shoulders of the dress.
The wedding ceremony was held at Saint Dimitrija Solunski Macedonian Orthodox Church in Wollongong. The signing of the Marriage Certificate took place to the tune of ‘Ave Maria’ (Schubert) sung by wedding ceremony vocalist Serafina Minns.
The wedding incorporated a beautiful mix of both Australian and Macedonian celebration and tradition.
Katelyn (who is Australian) spoke a section of her wedding speech dedicated to her mother in law and father in law in Macedonian – a tribute to them and their heritage;
The Wedding Reception incorporated traditional Macedonian dancing by a live Macedonian band. The Bride led her dance with a crocheted embroidered tasselled handkerchief (a Macedonian tradition). The Bride’s handkerchief belonged to her late maternal grandmother;
Red was used as a highlight colour throughout the wedding to contrast against the traditional black & white elements: The Bride’s teardrop bouquet of blood red magnum roses matched her Chanel red lipstick; the Bridesmaids bouquets by Flower Bud were made up of green singapore orchids, purple lissianthers, xanadu leaves, green succulents and dotted vine, and were designed to provide a bold contrast to the Bridesmaid’s red dresses by Hannii Chan and the accompanying red ties of the Groomsmen. Red rose petals were thrown at the Bride and Groom as they left the church; fresh blood red magnum roses adorned the 3 tier dark mud and white chocolate wedding cake by Delaney’s cakes.
A highlight of the wedding reception was the entrance by the bride and groom.
Tony and Katelyn entered the wedding reception venue with their bridal dance – ‘Come Fly With Me’ by Frank Sinatra (Tony is a pilot).
Says Katelyn “We did 4 months of private dance classes as we wanted to do something different with our bridal dance rather than the traditional waltz, we wanted to wow our wedding guests – and we did – we received a standing ovation from our guests at our wedding reception!”
“The dance was a tricky, up tempo choreographed routine incorporating swing, the jive, promenade runs, a bit of jazz and the groom at one stage picking up the bride and spinning her around, ending with a finale of the bride dropping horizontally to the floor with one hand holding onto the groom’s hand as he stood up straight and then pulling the bride back up!!”
The gorgeous wedding photography was taken by local photographer Ben Marden, you can view more of Ben’s gorgeous work on his website.
Congratulations Tony and Katelyn – it looks like you had an amazing day, it was a pleasure working with you. xx
