Merry & Bright
the restWell it’s that time of year again! We’re taking a short break, but will be back next week.

Pretty Little Chatterbox
the restI love looking at visual merchandising displays, if you work in retail – I’m the one closely inspecting your windows instead of the wares in the store! (ok I look in the store too, but that’s another topic).
When we were in New York earlier this year, we spent some quality time in Anthropologie, I would have to say that it’s one of my favourite stores, not only for their gorgeous stock, but their displays were stunning.
These little lovelies were part of their window display when we were there, there were masses of them all set up on branches. On close inspection they’re made up of the old style ‘chatterbox’ paper fortune folds– remember those? Then glued to a paper lantern with a light inside – so clever and effective, would be equally as pretty as part of wedding or party decorations!
Ring a ring a {rainbow}
life, parties, the restI came across this sweet idea via Family Chic, so sweet and simple. I’ve always loved these little paper parasols, would be perfect for the front door to welcome little guests to a Rainbow Party. See how to make your own here.
{quack quack} little duck
alannah rose parties, partiesThe Party Parlour sent over this sweet little party theme they created using our little duck invitations & gift tags….
We love the sweet mix of yellow, black and red polka dots and the tower of delicious yellow cupcakes- topped with a red polka dot of course! All of the goodies in this shoot are available from The Party Parlour.
Classic Pink and {grey}
inspiration boards, weddingsToday’s wedding, centered around our Sweet Serenade Wedding Invitation is a classic one. Pearls, beautiful fluffy bouquets and the soft touches of pinks. Classic elegance never goes out of style with accents like silver candlesticks and simple, textured white cakes.
Cockwise form top left: Alannah Rose Sweet Serenade Wedding Invitation, White bouquet from Brides, Amsale pink ruffle dress from Bloomingdales, jewellery from Martha Stewart Weddings, silver candlesticks from Country Living, carnation cake from My Sweet & Saucy.
Gorgeous {green} Feature
media and pressThe gorgeous new Autumn 2011 issue of Wedding Style Guide has just hit the shelves and features the Alannah Rose Mademoiselle Polka Dot invitation in custom mint in their “Retro Green Machine” feature. We love the idea of a retro style soiree filled with polka dots, paper striped straws and plenty of delicious treats like milkshakes, cupcakes and icecream! Thanks girls for the lovely feature!
{hydrangea} Harmony
inspiration boards, weddingsThere’s nothing quite like fresh blooms for a wedding and our Heavenly Hydrangea invitation is just the ticket for a floral celebration! Soften the black by using lots of different shades of the hydrangea purple, sweet treats and pretty floral details.
Clockwise from Top Left: Alannah Rose Heavenly Hydrangea Invitation, Hydrangea wreath from Martha Stewart Weddings, bridesmaid gown from Henry Roth, Chantilly comb from Stephanie Browne Australia, Hydrangea cupcakes from Glorious Treats.
NSS New York Roundup {Figs and Ginger}
life, sunday finds, the restAnother find from the National Stationery Show in New York. For me, Figs and Ginger really stood out at the show, their work was different, quirky and eye catching, not to mention displayed beautifully.
All of Figs and Ginger’s items are made in the mountains of North Carolina with sustainable harvested wood. I especially love the cake toppers and wedding bunting, and how perfect are the coat hangers? I see many wedding shots of beautiful bridal gowns and bridesmaids dresses hanging on a not so nice coat hanger – these are the perfect solution!
Starry Eyed {or a Starry Night}
life, sunday finds, the restThere’s nothing I love better than beautiful Typography combined with lovely words – isn’t this print (by Seb Lester via Creative Review) elegant?
Speaking of Van Gogh and Starry Nights, I finally got to see the real Starry Night at MOMA during our New York Trip, took my breath away.
Stationery Tips {Photographing Your Wedding Stationery}
alannah rose weddings, stationery tipsWhen your wedding stationery is what starts the day and where the wedding begins, having a shot of your invitations and key styling pieces can add to the memories of the day. Too often we hear from disappointed brides who have no memories of their wedding stationery because it wasn’t captured by their photographer on the day. Your stationery begins your story and ties the elements of your wedding together.
Make sure you have your full suite of stationery near your accessories on the day, so your photographer is able to grab your pieces and shoot them along side your bouquet or jewelery.
Let your photographer know if there are other special pieces in your suite you’d love to have captured at the reception and ceremony – from place cards, to your order of service, your seating chart and anything in between. These are wonderful for your own memories, but are also useful if a publication such as a blog or magazine wants to publish your wedding- details like this inspire other brides and pull together the full story and beauty of your wedding day.
