A Sweet Affair {Candy Buffets Melbourne}

parties, sponsor introduction, the rest, weddings

Today I wanted to introduce you to A Sweet Affair.

A Sweet Affair is headed up by the very talented Jacqui and Mandy – both with a long history in events and client service.

I worked with Jacqui for 5 years before I began my journey into the wedding industry, and I can testify she is dedicated, hard working and one stylish girl!

A Sweet Affair specialises in candy buffet and dessert bars for corporate functions, weddings, product launches, Christmas parties, birthdays and christenings, and are based in Melbourne.

I particularly love this black and white table, but take a view at their gallery, there’s a lot more to feast your eyes on.

Sponsor Introduction: {apple blossom weddings}

sponsor introduction, weddings

We’ve been lucky enough to meet the friendliest wedding professionals while designing our stationery here at Alannah Rose. I thought it might be special to do a little introduction to some of the ones that are supporting our blog!

Emily and Claire are wedding planners (with the sweetest name apple blossom weddings) in Tasmania and such a nice blog. i love reading it with a big warm cup of tea in the morning!

Who is Apple Blossom Weddings?

appleblossom is emily and claire working together as a team across every wedding on our books. claire is new fresh energy, with all the up to the minute styling ideas and an event management qualification under her belt. emily is a florist and interior designer, with 10 years experience in retail floristry and 5 years in the wedding industry in Tasmania.

appleblossomweddings was launched late 2010.  after a rebrand and polish up of emily’s existing and hugely successful wedding floristry service in Northern Tasmania, claire joined the team and together we have expanded to include wedding planning, sharing our networked to the hilt, fabulous handpicked local professionals with all our couples.

What should couples be looking for in a wedding planner?

Always make sure you have seen a portfolio of work or a website or blog from the planner you are choosing.  You need to be certain that they understand the atmosphere you are trying to achieve.

What mistakes can couples avoid when planning their wedding?

Some of the mistakes I found when I recently conducted a survey were photographers forgetting their brief on the day. Having a wedding planner or a trusted friend with a list of the shots you absolutely must have on the day is a great way to achieve all the lovely memories amidst the busyness of the day.

What trends are you seeing for 2011 in wedding styles?

Lots of colour, bright shoes, bouquets and bridesmaids dresses, another sweep of the popular posy for the Bride – the trend for the past few years has been towards wired bouquets, but hand tied posies are again all the rage. Bunting, vintage everything, chalkboards, backyard weddings, flowers in tea cups, lots of handmade details.

What is your most memorable wedding moment?

The most memorable moment was going into labour 2 weeks early on a Friday night, with a wedding booked on the Saturday! Luckily the Bride was well aware of my situation, she had a reasonably small order and I had ran through the order several times with Mum just in case. The flowers were all ordered and sitting in the cool room, dear Mum made the bouquets and delivered them, and then arrived at the hospital to greet her little granddaughter. Bless my Mum’s dear heart.  Mum has been a florist for over 30 years, so I trust her wholeheartedly.

What are the first 3 things a couple should do when planning their wedding?

Speak to their florist about the flowers that are in season around their wedding date, choose their date, book their photographer and celebrant. That’s 4 but I had to put the first one in as so many Brides are disappointed when they want a particular flower that is not in season at the time of their wedding. I chose my wedding date because peonies would be at the height of their season!

What is your favourite part of your job?

The Friday night before the wedding, working in the work room by myself with the music on creating beautiful bouquets with some premium stock.

You can see more of apple blossom weddings on their website!
