We’ve been busy bee’s here of late. Not only are we busy with Spring and Summer weddings, but we celebrated Miss Ella’s 5th Birthday on the weekend. She chose our Buzz Buzz Bee invitations last July (while i was standing on a ladder decorating for her ladybird party!), and has done nothing but talk about her bee party ever since!

I was brave and made the cakes myself this time. Ella and I had fun in the kitchen playing with fondant – it’s the first time I’ve made a cake with fondant, so I’m happy with the way they came up! Some pics below of the dessert table and party, I hope they inspire you for things you can do with our buzz buzz bee party theme.

Food made for the dessert table included Honey Joys, Yo-Yo’s, Ginger-Bee’s and Buzz Cakes. Guests sipped on nectar and were given little ‘sweet as honey’ jars of sweets to take home. Entertainment was provided by Disco Pop Parties – the busy bee’s disco! And we finished up with a bee pinata.

Nothing quite says childhood like an old fashioned carousel- our Take Me To The Fair party invitation conjures up thoughts of fairy floss, ferris wheels and all the naughty food you shouldn’t eat but is so wonderful for little eyes to feast upon!

For little girls, keep your colour palette in soft pastel stripes- lots of pinks, lilacs, soft blues and lemon yellows. Serve your favourite old fashioned treats in carnival style containers and decorate with beautifully created musical carousels.

When we asked our Facebook “likers” which of our invitations they liked best recently, our friend and stockist of Alannah Rose, Kathryn of Pink Frosting said “Paris” was definitely her favourite.

We love our Paris party invitation, it conjures up so many beautiful parties – today? a French inspired afternoon tea party. Wire replicas of the Eiffel tower gracing the tables, sweet raspberry macaroons, blooming peonies and of course- the finest of tea leaves drunk from our favourite tea pot!

First birthday parties are inherently special- filled with the baby innocence and the relief of parents surviving the sometimes harrowing first year. Our take on a first birthday party is always perfectly sweet with a few special touches.

This party (inspired by our One Little La La Plane Party Invitation) centers around that boyhood wonder- the airplane. Softly swaying planes hang from the ceiling, clouds decorate the wall, sugary sweet cupcakes with flags and handmade wooden airplanes for guests to take home. Along with cupcakes serve treats like popcorn, fairy floss, milk with brightly striped paper straws, soft squishy marshmallows and plenty of champagne for the adults!fly fly away Fly Fly Away {first birthday inspiration}

I don’t think the lily with it’s vibrant pinks and white will ever go out of style for a wedding! Today’s inspiration comes from the Lily Blush Wedding Invitation.

There’s nothing we love more than celebrating a brand new baby and we think our Hatching Soon Baby Shower Invitation has just the right amount of cluck, cluck cluckiness for any mum to be!

A birdie theme is just right for a baby shower, the promise of sweet new things to come! Sweet treats like cupcakes are a must (and we think a bottle of perfect pink bubbles for the guests is a necessary accompaniment!) and sugared almonds in twig nests echo our birdie and egg theme. Pretty garlands strung from the rafters look perfect blowing in the breeze and our La La Bird Pocket Mirrors are the perfect gift for games or to share with your guests as a token of appreciation!

My youngest daughter and I had a lovely afternoon yesterday testing out some ideas for party food for her 4th birthday later in the year. These pretty little pops are the results of our efforts.

p4198840 Pretty {little} Pops Easy Party Food
These lovely marshmallow pops are so easy to make, even the kids could do them.

You’ll need:
1 packet of marshmallows
1 packet of choc melts
Coloured sprinkles or candy to decorate
cocktail forks or lollipop sticks
baking paper

Simply place a marshmallow on the stick or fork, dip in the melted chocolate and place on the baking paper. Decorate with the sprinkles and then place in the fridge to set. Once set remove from fridge and place in rows on a plate for a great dessert table idea that the kids will love.

Last weekend my little girl turned 5, we celebrated with a pretty pink and red lala bird theme, based around our lala bird invitations. The lala bird invitations were named after Alannah, I call her lala for short, so it was only fitting that she should celebrate with the lala bird party theme.

I had such fun with this party, I never grow tired of red and pink together it’s such an unexpected but pretty combination, and I found that there are endless options of bird things that you can pick up from all over the place to help set the scene.

I kept the dessert table food to a theme of red, pink, chocolate, birds and hearts. Food included, cupcakes, gingerbread birds, sweets, candy kebabs, chocolate crackles, and heart shaped fairy bread.

As we had quite a few children at the party I also set up an area outside, this is where we served the hot food for lunch and played the party games.

alannahs bird party10 Alannah Rose Party My Little Lala Turns Five {bird} Party Inspiration

The table centre piece was simply a handful of fallen branches that I collected, spray painted and placed in a vase, we then hung some lovely wooden birds from it that I found in Bed, Bath N Table, together with some crepe paper roses that I made.

alannahs bird party11 Alannah Rose Party My Little Lala Turns Five {bird} Party Inspiration

All children love party games, and whilst we played some traditional favourites like pass the parcel, musical chairs and pinata, I wanted to also incorporate something on theme. I got the idea for these nifty little cups from the Eat Drink Chic blog, and thought they’d be great to use as ‘nests’ for the children to do an egg hunt. The child that found the most eggs got to choose a prize from the birdcage. (and of course they all got to keep their eggs).

The cups are super easy to make, simply buy plain paper cups, punch a hole either side at the top, insert ribbon and you’ve got a pretty little favour basket or candy cup.

Thirsty birds need drink: I love these pop top bottles (available at Safeway) they’ve got not artificial colours and flavours and they’re perfect for parties – it saves you time pouring drinks and eliminates spillages on the party table. I made the little labels to co-ordinate in with the rest of the stationery.

alannahs bird party14 Alannah Rose Party My Little Lala Turns Five {bird} Party Inspiration

Sweet tweets: All little birds love a tweet (or treat) at the end of a party, I used our little lala bird party bag tags, and found these gorgeous little pink pegs on etsy here. Together with an assortment of lollies for the guests, each party bag also had a necklace gift ‘for pretty birds’ inside. The girls and I made these together, they’re simple and cost effective to make – just take a length of ribbon and thread some wooden beads onto it, tying a knot in between each bead – I then just slipped them into a cellophane bag.

My little lala bird loved her bird party, we’re already in discussions for the next one, and her little sister bells has put in a request for a new design for her party in July… stay tuned xx

Following from our last post, I received another gorgeous circus theme party in my inbox this week. This time from the very talented Sacha at Bridal Survival.

Sacha arranged this fantastic party for her partner’s 30th Birthday – held in the rotunda of a local park and themed in true Big Top style, Sacha wowed not only her partner but their guests and friends.

Being in the park Sacha’s main requirements were that everything was easy to set up and take down. Casual was a must on the birthday boy’s list – so a fun, relaxed setting in the park with bbq lunch and friends was the perfect way to celebrate.

The theme started with our Roll Up Circus party invitations and was carried through with beautiful details including make your own lolly bags, pinwhirls and giant lollipops, whilst guests clowned around with red noses, moustaches and juggling balls.

sacha circus2b1 Alannah Rose Party {circus...circus!} Who Says Kids Should Have All The Fun?

Sacha sourced her supplies from a variety of online and local stores including:

White raspberry fairy floss and movie style popcorn from Flossy’s fairy floss , Cake – Homemade, Lolly buffet contained old fashioned circus fair – toffee apples (as above), fairy floss (as above) movie style popcorn in boxes (details as above) candy bracelets, redskins, crackle and pop bars and different lollipops. Star and Elephant shape cookies made by Sacha.

The gorgeous pinwheel centrepieces were also made by Sacha using instructions, sticks, pins and beads from Pin Whirls on the recommendation of Prue from Gigi & Lulu. Pinwheel paper from Paper Heaven.
